Adrian Willig (born in 1966) has been Managing Director of the Institute for Heat and Mobility (IWO) since 2014. A graduate engineer in aerospace engineering, Willig is committed to a pragmatic, technology-open and affordable design of the energy transition. This is because transformation paths with a broad mix of technologies and energy sources are more robust and cost-effective than those that rely predominantly on electricity-based applications. This energy source mix should also include liquid fuels, which will increasingly be produced from renewable sources in the future. Such alternative fuels are essential for a largely CO2-neutral energy supply.

The IWO, an institution of the German petroleum industry, is an important driver of innovation, especially in the field of technology development. Adrian Willig has worked for the institute in various positions since 1994. In 2003 he took over the management of marketing and market partner support. Since 2008 he was already responsible as deputy managing director.
